Countryside Survey Hedgerow Data

Stock and change data for hedge lengths across Great Britain, created from a stratified random survey of up to c. 600 1 km squares located on a 15 by 15 km grid. A hedge is defined as a line of woody vegetation that has been subject to management so that trees no longer take their natural shape. Hedges may be present with any other linear feature. These are also known as 'managed' hedgerows. Surveys have been carried out in 1990, 1998 and 2007 with repeated visits to the majority of squares.
